BlackRock Preferred and Equity Trust (the Trust) is a non-diversified, closed-end management investment company. The Trust's investment objective is to seek current income, current gains and capital appreciation. The Trust's investment advisor is BlackRock Advisors, LLC, and the Trust's sub-advisors are BlackRock Financial Management, Inc. and BlackRock Investment Management, LLC.
The Trust will invest at least 80% of its managed assets in preferred and equity securities and derivatives with exposure to those equity securities. The Trust's portfolio of preferred securities is expected to consist of both fixed-rate preferred and adjustable-rate preferred securities. Initially, the Trust expects to invest approximately 70% of its managed assets in preferred securities and 30% of its managed assets in equity securities and derivatives with exposure to those equity securities. The Trust may invest up to 20% of its managed assets in securities other than preferred and equity securities, including debt securities and convertible securities.
