Flaherty & Crumrine/Claymore Preferred Securities Income Fund Incorporated (the Fund), incorporated on May 23, 2002, is a diversified, closed-end management investment company. The Fund's investment objective is to provide high current income together with the preservation of capital. The Fund invests primarily in a diversified portfolio of preferred securities, which includes fully taxable (hybrid) preferred securities and traditional preferred stocks eligible for the inter-corporate dividends received deduction (DRD). At least 80% of the value of the Fund's total assets will be invested in preferred securities. It invests at least 25% of its total assets in securities issued by companies in the utility industry and at least 25% of its total assets issued by companies in the banking industry.
The Fund may invest up to 20% of its total assets in securities rated below investment grade. These securities must be rated at least either Ba3 by Moody's Investors Service, Inc. or BB- by Standard & Poor's, or if unrated, judged to be comparable in quality by the Fund?ÇÖs investment advisor. It may also invest up to 15% of its total assets in common stocks and 20% of its total assets in debt securities. The Fund invests in industries, such as banking, utilities, insurance, financial services, oil and gas, and real estate investment trusts. Flaherty & Crumrine Incorporated serves as the Fund's investment advisor. PFPC Inc., a member of the PNC Financial Services Group, Inc., serves as the Fund's Administrator.
