Camtek Ltd. (Camtek), incorporated on October 21, 1987, provides automated and technological solutions for production processes and products yield, enabling and supporting customers' technologies in the semiconductor fabrication and printed circuit board (PCB) industries. The Company designs, develops, manufactures and markets products mainly based on two core technologies: automated optical inspection (AOI) and functional ink technology (FIT). The Company's AOI systems are computerized systems that optically inspect various types of electronic product components for defects caused during the manufacturing process. Its AOI systems are used for both production processes and for manufacturers in the semiconductor fabrication industry, as well as the PCB industry. The Company's AOI products incorporate image processing software and algorithms, as well as electro-optics and precision mechanics. In addition, the Company's AOI systems use technology to handle a range of inspection and verification needs.
The Gryphon System's technology enables to offer to customers in the PCB industry a range of products, while relying on the existing operational, research and development, customer support, and sales and marketing infrastructure. The Company's AOI systems consist of an electro-optical assembly unit, either movable or fixed, which consists of a video camera, precision optics and illumination sources; a precise, either movable or fixed table, that holds the inspected product, and an electronic hardware unit, which operates the entire system and includes embedded components that process and analyze the captured image by using algorithms. The Company offers a range of systems for automated optical inspection of semiconductor wafers, integrated circuit substrates and printed circuit boards.
AOI Systems for the Semiconductor Industry
The Company's AOI systems for the semiconductor industry include Eagle, Condor, Gannet and Falcon. The Eagle AP supports the packaging market, using technologies, both software and hardware, that delivers two dimensional (2D) and three dimensional (3D) inspection and metrology capabilities on the same platform. The Eagle-i is Camtek's system for 2D inspection, and provides high volume production inspection and metrology solutions. It can be used for a range of inspection steps, including operational quality control, probe mark inspection, post dicing and reconstructed wafers and pre-and post-bumped wafers. The Condor includes 2D inspection and metrology abilities combined with 3D metrology capabilities, such as bump, micro bump and through silicon via (TSV) measurements. The Gannet's algorithms and inspection capabilities enables it to detect defects in the die. In addition, inspection data can be used by customers to monitor and characterize a number of production processes using The Gannet. The Company's Falcon systems are offered for the back end market of the semiconductor industry. In addition, inspection data can be used by customers to monitor and characterize various wafer finishing processes, troubleshoot functional issues or control the integrity of the interconnect and perform various metrology tasks.
AOI Systems for the Printed Circuit Board Industry
The Company's AOI products for the PCB industry consist of four product lines: the Phoenix, Dragon and Orion for the inspection of inner and outer layers of printed circuit board panels and ultra-fine-line integrated circuit substrate, and large area masks (Pheonix Photo Tool) dedicated for inspection of artwork. The Phoenix product family supports a range of the PCB and integrated circuit substrate applications. Phoenix models are optimized for specific printed circuit board technology, which ranges from mainstream circuits of approximately 50 microns (um) conductor line width and high-density substrates having over five um-conductive lines. The Phoenix product family is enhanced with Spark, which is Camtek's detection engine that provides detection capabilities.
Dragon systems are automation-ready systems for inspection of all PCB types in a mass production environment. Dragon models are offered for specific printed circuit board technology, which ranges from mainstream circuits of approximately 100 um conductor line width and high-density substrates having over 10 um-conductive lines. Orion systems are AOI systems for inspection of all PCB types designed to operate in Inspectify mode of operation. Inspectify is a mode of operation enabling the operator to perform verification after inspection on the same system. The Phoenix Photo Tool inspection system (the Phoenix PT) is designed for main-stream Photolithography Mask inspection. It offers detection ability on Phoenix PT with over 20 um line to space width technology. The CVR-100 is a verification system for verification of panels after inspection on the Phoenix, Dragon or Orion AOI equipment.
Direct Functional Ink Technology
The Gryphon System is designed to replace the conventional solder mask and legend application lines for prototypes and high mix, low volume production. The Gryphon System offers manufacturers a digital printing technology solution. The Gryphon System incorporates printing technology, using a specially developed hybrid ink, which was tailored for requirements of the PCB industry and features two-color printing capabilities enabling both solder mask and legend titles in a one stop manufacturing station.
