Medical
Medical segment includes Advanced Surgical, Orthopedics & Portable Medical; Cardio & Vascular, and Cardiac & Neuromodulation product lines. The Advanced Surgical, Orthopedics & Portable Medical product line offers a range of products and services across various businesses it serves. In partnership with customers, it offers development, engineering and program management. The principal products and services offered by Advanced Surgical, Orthopedics & Portable Medical product line include Arthroscopic Devices & Components, Laparoscopic & General Surgery, Biopsy & Drug Delivery, Power Solutions and Orthopedic.
Arthroscopic devices and components products include devices used for minimally invasive surgery in the joint space, also referred to as sports medicine. Its products include shaver blades and burrs, ablation probes, and suture anchors, which are used in procedures, such as arthroscopic anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction, arthroscopic repair, rotator cuff repair, and hip labrum repair. Its laparoscopic and general surgery products include devices used primarily for minimally invasive procedures in the abdominal space, but may also be used in open or general surgery. Its products include trocars, endoscopes and laparoscopes, closure devices, harmonic scalpels, bipolar energy delivery devices, radio frequency probes, thermal tumor ablation devices and ophthalmic surgery devices. Its biopsy and drug delivery products include biopsy and grasping forceps, breast biopsy devices, auto injection systems, cannula-based delivery systems, implantable brachytherapy seeds, tubes, catheters, infusion and Intravenous (IV) connectors, and wearable patient constant or variable delivery systems. Its orthopedic products include hip and shoulder joint reconstruction implants, plates, screws and spinal devices, as well as instruments and delivery systems used in hip and knee replacement, trauma fixation, extremity and spine surgeries. Its orthopedic implants are used in reconstructive surgeries to replace or repair hips, knees and other joints, such as shoulders, ankles and elbows that have deteriorated as a result of disease or injury. In addition, the Company provides batteries and other power solutions through the combined efforts of research, product development, manufacturing and customer partnerships. Its offerings include customized rechargeable batteries and chargers, non-rechargeable batteries and wireless charging systems. It develops batteries, and the attendant chargers, for patient monitoring, portable defibrillators, and portable ultrasound, X-Ray machines, hearing devices and other devices.
The Cardio & Vascular product line offers a range of products and services from its global facilities for the development of diagnostic and interventional cardiac and endovascular devices. Its design and development services produce components, subassemblies and finished devices for a range of cardiac and endovascular procedures. The principal products and services offered by its Cardio & Vascular product line include Cardiovascular and Structural Heart; Peripheral Vascular, Neurovascular, Urology and Oncology, and Electrophysiology, Infusion Therapy & Hemodialysis. Its Cardiovascular and structural heart products include products used for vascular, cardiac surgery and structural heart disease. Within this product line, the Company produces guidewire and catheter components, subassemblies and completed devices for cardiovascular, cardiac surgery and structural heart disease applications. Its peripheral vascular, neurovascular, urology and oncology products are primarily focused on the design and manufacturing of devices used during the treatment of peripheral arterial disease, peripheral transcatheter embolization and occlusion, aortic aneurysm repair, arteriovenous malformations and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography. Within this product line, the Company designs and manufactures guidewire and catheter components, subassemblies and completed devices for the various applications. The Cardiac & Neuromodulation product line offers a collection of technologies and capabilities. Its Cardiac and neuromodulation products include batteries, capacitors, filtered and unfiltered feedthroughs, engineered components, implantable stimulation leads and enclosures used in Implantable Medical Devices (IMD). The principal products and services offered by its Cardiac & Neuromodulation product line include Cardiac Rhythm Management and Neuromodulation. The Company provides a range of products and services to enable cardiac rhythm management (CRM) medical devices to address heart disease and heart rhythm disorders through such systems as: pacemakers, implantable cardiac defibrillators, cardiac resynchronization therapy devices, implantable cardiac monitors and other implantable devices. Non-Medical
Non-Medical segment includes Electrochem product line. Electrochem provides customized battery power and management systems, charging and docking stations, and power supplies. The Company designs customized primary (non-rechargeable) and secondary (rechargeable) battery solutions, which are used in the energy, military and environmental markets. Its primary lithium power solutions, which include high, moderate and low rate non-rechargeable cell solutions, are utilized in extreme conditions and can withstand high and low temperatures, and shock and vibration. Its primary batteries are used in remote and demanding environments, including down hole drilling tools, military devices, and oceanographic survey vessels buoys. In addition to primary power solutions, Electrochem offers customized secondary or rechargeable battery packs, in a range of chemistries for applications requiring rechargeable solutions. Electrochem's rechargeable battery packs include electronics, charging and battery management systems, and are used in military and industrial applications.
