Mobileye N.V., incorporated in 2001, is engaged in the development of computer vision and machine learning-based sensing, mapping and driving policy technology for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and autonomous driving technologies. The Company operates through two segments: Original Equipment Manufacturing (OEM) and After Market (AM). The Company's software algorithms and EyeQ chips perform detailed interpretations of the visual field in order to anticipate possible collisions with other vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists, animals, debris and other obstacles. The Company's products are able to detect roadway markings, such as lanes, road boundaries, barriers and similar items; identify and read traffic signs, directional signs and traffic lights; create a Roadbook of localized drivable paths and visual landmarks using its road experience management (REM) technology, and provide mapping for autonomous driving. The Company offers camera-based ADAS technology that covers various safety and convenience-related functions.
The Company's products uses monocular camera processing that works alone or together with radar for redundancy. The Company's visual interpretation algorithms consist of road signs interpretation, object detection, range and time-to-contact (TTC) to targets, motion-based measurements, pattern recognition, lighting functions, semantic free-space, holistic path Planning, 360-degree driving scene interpretation, environmental models and REM technology. Its customers include original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), Tier 1 system integrators, fleets and fleet management systems providers (telematics), insurance companies, leasing companies and others.
Original Equipment Manufacturing
The OEM segment supplies the software algorithms and EyeQ chip. It provides the software and the EyeQ System on Chip (SoC) to the Tier 1 companies. The Company creates a reference design for the camera sensor and electronics that are built around its SoC to each Tier 1 company that determines to respond to the request for quotation (RFQ). The Tier 1 company based on its reference design, builds a module for the complete sensor system that includes the windshield-mounted camera, its EyeQ SoC and its application software using its software algorithms.
After Market
In the AM segment, the Company sells a complete system, which includes its software algorithms and EyeQ chip, as well as the camera and other necessary components. The complete system offers a range of ADAS functions to end customers, including commercial fleet owners, new vehicle dealers and importers. In The Company offers the Mobileye 6-Series product, which incorporates the Mobileye EyeQ SoC and related algorithms and software on a windshield-mounted vision sensor unit with a compact High Dynamic Range complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS) (HDRC) camera and related hardware (together, Mobileye's SeeQ2 image processing board), as well as a display unit (EyeWatch). It also offers additional features, such as Enhanced Cruise Control, pre-lighting of brake lights and Bluetooth connectivity, as well as a related smartphone application. It also offers Mobileye Shield+ product, which is a blind spot detection, a vision zero solution that includes a main camera that has all Mobileye 5 series alerts and two additional side cameras that recognize pedestrians and cyclists. This solution warns drivers of Large Goods Vehicles (LGVs) and buses by utilizing optical and audio alerts if a collision is about to occur with a pedestrian or cyclist from the side of the long vehicle.
